K9JX Jacksonville Amateur Radio Society Club Information and History

The Jacksonville Amateur Radio Society "JARS" was formed in 1957 and is an not-for-profit organization serving the Jacksonville and surounding area in Illinois.

Our mission is to expand the visibility of amateur radio through education, training, and fellowship and to use our capabilities for the public good. Whether you are a young student thinking about getting your license, or a long-time ham looking to put your talents to good use, we will be able to do more by working together. Take a look at what we do, join us at one of our monthly meetings or on our weekly net, then join us in membership and help us share the excitement of amateur radio with others.

The Jacksonville Amateur Radio Society "JARS"

Provides free communication support for Public Service Events.
Conducts ham radio programs for Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, American Diabetes Association, NOAA, or other organizations.
Hosts Special Interest Groups... people who come together to share common interests.

It takes assets and members to provide these services. Jacksonville Amateur Radio Society has Repeater Team that maintains our repeaters. We also have a Website Development Team that maintains this website.
